Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in the French city of Puy-de Domme on August 9 1976 the oldest child of four. From a very young age, both her dental doctor parents as well as her teacher mother supported Audrey's love of theater and drama. This passion that overshadowed her initial wish to become a the first primatologist. Her fame grew as a child actor quickly and with huge achievement. When she graduated in 1998, her education, she was selected to take part in Jeunes Premiers, a French show on TV that is a talent-scouting initiative, which is sponsored by Canal+. There she was awarded the prize for the Best Young Actress in the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. It was this that led her to begin her professional career as an actor. Tautou attended church and the Institut Catholique de Paris during her early years, but has since gotten rid of the aforementioned societal influences. Her acting and modelling careers were intertwined. Her image was the mainstay for L'Oreal Mont Blanc Chanel, and is known as The Chanel Muse. A keen photographer, she produced a recent exhibition during The Arles International Festival titled Superficial. Her photographs are largely about famous people and celebrities. The exhibit also includes an assortment of portraits of herself as well. Audrey Tautou's global recognition and popularity exploded after her appearance in the film as Amelie Poulain's lead actress in the film Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain. Amelie was an international box-office hit, receiving accolades at awards galas around all over the world. Amelie was the highest-rated French-language film in the US. After this huge success, Tautou went on to star in many films including British dramatics, such as Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long Sunday de fiancailles. Also, she starred with Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
