Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. The first Broadway parts are Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford spent her time working with some of the most acclaimed actors and directors across stage film and television and she is continuing her award-winning collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford will be next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani, in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It will premiere on 22nd November. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film will be aired on Disney DTC as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place on March 20, 2023. He plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The team behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the control of the production. Ashford's latest part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. The two-season run she had on the CBS show B Positive was her first big role. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Her additional Broadway credits includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and born in Denver and now lives living in Los Angeles and New York.
